Established in 2002, the Sunshine Coast Botanical Garden Society engages the community in horticulture, art and culture, and acts as a catalyst for learning about plant conservation and land stewardship. With over 550 members, the SCBGS is dedicated to collect, preserve, document and promote a diversity of plants, including native plants. Our quest for land has culminated in a site that could hardly be more perfectly suited to our purpose: 40 acres of flat agricultural land, treed with a great variety of mature specimen trees, bordered on one side by a magnificent ravine and stream, and on two other sides by naturalized ponds. This property is on a bus route, and its central location in West Sechelt provides easy access to all Sunshine Coast residents from Egmont to Gibsons. This exceptional 16-hectare (40-acre) property is ideally suited for a botanical garden. Its past as an ornamental tree farm has left it with significant mature trees, grassy meadows, a nearly-intact deer fence, three irrigation ponds, and some remnant farm buildings. Paths are already established to some areas, and the deep ravine of Wakefield Creek frames the west side of the site.

The Garden Pavilion is a spacious 2475 sq ft building on site that is now available for event rentals. It is situated in a garden setting that will accommodate about 80 people seated for reception-style events or about 100 people for a lecture style event.

The Sunshine Coast Botanical Garden Society is proud to present a very exciting project - an accessible Seniors Community Garden. This accessible food garden was designed for and by seniors. It is comprised of raised beds, raised tables and a greenhouse that is walker and wheelchair accessible. Its location, adjacent to the existing food garden, will encourage inter-generational knowledge sharing and social contact.
